Progress is delighted to announce that we have secured a new contract taking place later this summer. Progress will design, manage and procure the first phase of public spaces at a 300+ student housing facility in Central London. We’re excited to get started with the project and provide young people with spaces where they can socialise when returning to university. Our client has a clear vision for the project and we’re eager to make it a reality for London students.
The site near the British Museum has challenging access issues and is never less than 95% occupied throughout the year, even during the university holidays when summer lets take over. With the current unusually low occupancy levels, our client decided now is the time to tackle the most challenging parts of the building refurbishment. While university students are spending time at home, Progress has the opportunity to undergo the project without the typical challenges that occur during this usually busy period of the year.
The Progress team has been working tirelessly for the last month to design a detailed concept ready for tender to contractors. With the works starting in August 2020, it’s been a real challenge that we’re thoroughly enjoying. We’ve worked with our team and suppliers to build an achievable and efficient timeline during these unpredictable times.
The project has taken a lot of consideration in regards to the way in which our usual processes can be carried out. Progress has been creating and implementing new policies and procedures since March 2020 that will protect our contractors, designers, managers and fitters throughout the project.
The student housing project will begin in August 2020 and take place over the following weeks. The Progress team is looking forward to the challenge and will follow government guidance throughout the project to remain safe and protected at all times.
